Project Danztheatre Company, a non-profit multi-disciplinary arts organization founded in 2001, is comprised of two distinct groups: Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble, the adult performance company,
and the outreach program, Kids Project.

Mission:
Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble engages and inspires the community through socially conscious works and programs that fuse world literature and traditional western theatre with contemporary dance, physical theatre, multimedia and visual art.

About:
Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble (CDE), a non-profit multi-disciplinary arts organization founded in 2001, is comprised of two distinct groups: Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble, the performance ensemble and its outreach program, Kids Project and Teen Project. CDE is dedicated to creating performances and partnerships that bring about change in the world around us.

Inspired by the German Expressionist movement, Tanztheater, the ensemble uses the written word as the structure and body movement as the primary tool to create original and compelling narratives that inspire new awareness to wide-ranging audiences. Performances fuse elements of world literature and traditional western theatre with physical theatre, contemporary dance, multimedia and visual art.

CDE’s outreach program consists of Kids Project and Teen Project. These school age programs work to increase awareness of the arts and improve literacy in students of all backgrounds through experiences in visual and performing arts. Similar to the performance ensemble, Kids Project and Teen Project use literature as a vehicle and introduces students to the fine and performing arts while increasing literacy skills and fostering greater self-esteem.
Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble is committed to community outreach as one of our highest priorities. In addition to Kids Project and Teen Project programs, our outreach efforts include holding food, clothing and supplies drives for partner organizations at our performances. We have developed relationships with many organizations, including Christopher House and the Neighborhood Writing Alliance.
Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble is dedicated to creating performances and partnerships that bring about change in the world around us, even on a small scale. We work to grow a diverse audience, manifesting change on many levels, be it by touching someone through a performance or by working hand-in-hand with partners in the community.
